The Courage To Do What’s Mine to Do

My arse is numb from sitting on the sidelines. I know it is time to jump more deeply into the game. The problem is, sitting out has caused my muscles to atrophy.

Birthing anything new takes effort. I know I have something to say. Getting the strength to say it is a muscle I am seeking to build.

Some topics are easy to discuss. For things deeply personal, the stakes are higher. When you get closer to the core of who you are, the cuts get more in-depth.

Expressing from the heart is an act of love. It opens you up to the possibility of getting stepped on. But it is impossible to connect any other way.

An image of bowling came to mind. When I let go of the ball, I make all these weird contortions — leaning one way or the other, hopping up and down like I’m busting to pee and can’t get into the bathroom.

Once the ball it out of your hand, you no longer have control over it.

As I take a few reps, I’m focusing on writing what has been put on my heart to say. Once written, the outcomes are out of my hands.
